Dr Fakrul Alam is Director Sheikh Mujib Research Institute for Peace and Liberty, and Professor, Department of English, University of Dhaka. He received the Bangla Academy Puroskar (Literature Award) for translation in 2013. His publications include Bharati Mukherjee (1995), Jibanananda Das: Selected Poems (1999), South Asian Writings in English (2006), Imperial Entaglements and Literatures in English (2007), The Essential Tagore (2011) with Radhha Chakravarty, and Reading Literature in English: Postcolonial Perspectives (2021). Other works include translations of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Unfinished Memoirs (2012), Prison Diaries (2016), New China 1952 (2021). Besides, Professor Alam translated the late nineteenth century Bengali epic narrative Bishad-Sindhu by Mir Mossharaf Hossain (2017).
